History - Denmark are a new Rugby League playing nation and continues the trend of European nations taking up the sport.

In early 2009 Denmark were unranked in world rankings but were awarded official observer status by the Rugby League International Federation.

Denmark participated in the Scandinavia 9's held in Oslo, Norway in May 2009. The event is an International tournament and has teams from Denmark, Sweden, Catalonia, Germany and Norway participating. In July 2009 training sessions were held around the Copenhagen area. Rugby League development is at a very early stage but it is hoped in years to come that Denmark will join the growing list of European nations playing the greatest game of all.

The recent success of the Rugby League World Cup will provide further funds to develop the sport throughout Europe. The Rugby League European Federation (RLEF) will now have more funds to invest in development officers and continue assisting rugby league's growth. With the right support many more nations including Denmark could become involved in the growing international arena.
