EUROPEAN CUP GROUP TWO
Host Nations - All nations will host one home game each with the "Finals Day" location still to be announced.
Number of Teams - 6 (Nations are still to be determined)
2011 European Cup Snapshot - The 2011 European Cup will be the 3rd installment of the new competition and will continue with the development of international rugby league in Europe and the Middle East. The Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) have provided the 2nd tier Rugby League nations with an annual tournament to assist with their ongoing development. This tournament will build on the success of the 2010 European Cup. The 2011 European Cup will provide that platform for teams as they prepare for the World Cup qualifiers.
The 2011 European Cup will provide the winner with a mental boost as they look to qualify for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. This is a step in the right direction for the international game as it strives to promote more teams into the top tier of the international rugby league.
This will make the "Finals Day" very exciting to watch with the 3rd & 2nd placed teams in each pool will battling it out for ranking positions while the 1st placed teams will play in the final game of the day to determine the European champion leading into the World Cup.
The European Cup matches being played throughout Europe is another piece of the international puzzle and will help nations prepare for the 2013 World Cup qualifiers that are due to commence in 2011.
Dear Readers, if you would like to talk more about the European Cup with other rugby league fans please visit our international rugby league forums at http://forums.rugbyleagueplanet.com and have your say.
